Epoxy Chemical To Break Ground Friday

Chamber directors and members were invited to a 9 15 am coffee hour on Tuesday. Friday September 27 marks the ground breaking for the Epoxy Chemical Company plant to be built on a two acre site off Pacific Street behind the baseball park. Joe Jones introduced Ed Hall the general manager at the gathering. The coffee hour will be at the St Clair restaurant before the groundbreaking ceremony.

Mineola Man Charged With Burglary Here

Bobby Gene Tennyson, 29, of Mineola, faces burglary charges in an incident at the Blue Haven Club on S. Mills Street. Police say shots were fired inside the tavern, with Tennyson injured and taken to hospital, then to Longview for processing. additional police activity includes minor local incidents and a Kiwanis Club meeting planned in the area.

Gray's Food Store 30th Birthday Celebration Planned

Gray's Food Store at 400 Gay Avenue marks its 28th birthday with a Thursday kickoff. The family-owned shop since 1943 offers S H Green Stamps with every purchase and double stamps midweek. Gladewater Lions Club welcomed District 2X2 cabinet members for a Sunday session at Cace's in Longview with 180 in attendance. Ravenel Lucas, Texarkana District Governor, presided as Virgil Wallace led the host club in a resolution nominating Clyde C. Crawford for District Governor 1972 73.

Gladewater ISD reports first day enrollment growth

Gladewater County Line Independent School District opened the 1970-71 year with 1,818 students across four schools, including 53 in special education. Supt. Roy Johnson expects a small rise in the coming weeks as facilities show improvements.

Golden wedding anniversary marked by L. L. Avants in Gladewater

Leslie Leon Avant and Esther Anne Marshall Avants celebrate 50 years of marriage with a Sunday reception at their North Main home. They have seven children, twenty grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. The couple, longtime Gladewater residents, married August 30, 1921 in Shreveport.

Gladewater Hospital Audit Shows Strong Fiscal Health

Wilford Simpson of Leatherwood and Ward Fort Worth Dallas attended the August board meeting and reviewed the audit report with directors. He praised Administrator Bill Wagner for excellent books and efficient bookkeeping. The hospital’s fiscal year ended March 31 1971 shows a solid financial condition.
