Etta George dies at 74 after brief illness
Funeral services for Etta D. George will be held Monday at 2 o'clock in Malcolm Stone Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Herman Reagh will officiate with interment at Memorial Park. She resided at Pioneer Manor in Gilmer and had lived in Gladewater 41 years. Survivors include two sons, a daughter, a sister, 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Gladewater Superintendent Roy Johnson announced the district is 100 percent in ethnic balance across schools. A $50,000 reward to find the killer in the July 8 murder of Mrs. Inez Phillips at 426 North Main Street was extended to Sept 15.
