Thackers Restore Wild Texas Lot Into Lush Hobby Farm
Maude and Bob Thacker moved to East Texas two years ago and transformed a seven acre wilderness near Pritchett into a thriving hobby farm. They cleared dense vegetation, planted fruit trees and vegetables, built shelters, and care for a small flock of chickens and rabbits. Bob, a high blood pressure patient, recovered with gradual farming chores, while Maude preserves produce by pickling and maintains a garden with minimal fertilizer. The couple, longtime Odessa residents, cite frugal, hands-on work as their health tonic and enjoy the farm life with family spread across Texas and California.

Butch Cassidy Sister Defends Him Amid Myths
Lola Parker Betenson, 91, says outlaw Robert Parker died quietly in 1937 in an unmarked grave. She portrays him as a complex figure, recounting kindnesses and arguing much of the Bolivia death story is unproven, while noting his ties to the Parker family ranch.
