Notices urge boys ages seven to nine to attend Peewee baseball tryouts Saturday at 2 p.m. rain or shine. Also announced are meetings for the Gladewater Citizens Band Radio Club Thursday April 17 at 7 30 p.m. and a Junior-Senior banquet planning session April 17 with banquet planned for April 25. Leon Meade and Roy Ragsdale won first flight in a 27 hole four ball tourney at Gilmer Country Club.

Graveside Rites Held for Horace Grayson
Graveside rites for Horace Grayson 55 were held Monday at 10 am in Gladewater Memorial Park. The Rev Irby D Bates of First Baptist Church officiated. Interment under Malcolm Stone Funeral Home. Grayson, a World War II veteran and former resident of Fairfield, died after a period of illness. He leaves a daughter Nancy Sue and a brother Harry. Pallbearers included Charles Miller Bobbie Cannon Billy Applegate Jimmy Stevenson Richard Timmons Nubbin Calhoun.

Mrs. Florence Rose 72 Dies in Gladewater
Mrs. Florence Rose a Gladewater resident for 50 years died Tuesday after a lengthy illness in a local hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Ethridge officiating. Burial at Friendship Cemetery. Survived by three daughters two sons and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gladewater Public Library hosted an area Trustee Workshop for Library Trustees Friends and Librarians on Wednesday April 16. Anita Decker Texas State Library Field Consultant spoke on Being a Productive Trustee and a panel discussed local trustee problems. Offsite guests included librarians and library board chairs from Daingerfield Marshall Gilmer Tyler and Longview with plans for this year’s fund drive announced by President Moore.

School Board Re elects Henry As President and Conduct Rules
Gladewater School Board re elected Dr. Walter Henry as president and Dr. Harold McDowell as vice president with John Shipp as secretary during a Monday night meeting. New board members Hugman and Cockerell took oath. The board adopted three policies on student dress, drug abuse and pupil assignments, set May dates for the equalization board, authorized purchase of a Farmall tractor mower, and invited bids for the old frame storehouse sale and vocational program equipment. A workshop was announced for April 24 at Kilgore College.

Bomb blasts rock Lone Star area as strikes continue
Three men were arrested after dynamite rocked Mt. Pleasant area towns near Lone Star Steel. Explosions damaged the MacTea Realty office in Lone Star at 1 30 a m and a pickup owned by L B Brooks of Jefferson at 12 35 a m causing minor damage. Brooks had returned to work April 4. Realty office staff reported warnings against selling or renting to new steel company employees.
