Gladewater schools dismiss at regular time Friday and resume Monday April 11. Students and faculty enjoy a nine day break with Easter egg hunts for younger students. Camp Fire plans an egg hunt at Camp Natowa Tuesday and a sunrise service at First Baptist Church Easter morning led by Rev. Lavern Rudolph. public invited.

SWEPCO Welsh Plant Enters Operation First Coal Unit
SWEPCO marks a historical milestone as Welsh Unit One at the East Texas Welsh Power Plant begins commercial operation on March 31 1977. The 528 000 kilowatt unit shifts fuel away from natural gas toward low sulfur Wyoming coal. Construction continues on Welsh Two and Welsh Three with full plant targets through 1982. Over 400 000 tons of coal are onsite ready for use and coal trains deliver fuel in four hours. The move doubles generating capability by 1982 and solidifies coal as base load power across SWEPCO's three state service area.
