Evans summoned to show cause over $103 payment

Columbia September 20 Judge Gage signed an order directing B B Evans candidate for Attorney General to show cause on October 7 why he should not be ordered to turn over $103 to the Murry Drug Company of Columbia, alleged to have been collected by Evans while attorney for that company.

Hazing Reports at Clemson College Questioned

Reports of hazing at Clemson College are said to be exaggerated. The college is nearly free from hazing with some mild cases. Three Orangeburg boys were dismissed for paddling a recruit from the same county. The paddled boy pleaded for their stay, then left after dismissal. Authorities are preparing a formal statement to address inquiries.

Allen captors awarded for Hillsville murders in Virginia

Governor Mann granted Detective W G Baldwin a 2700 dollar warrant from the State Auditor for the capture of Sidna Allen and Wesley Edwards, part of a 12300 dollar statewide reward payout for Allen clan members. Missing Miss Maude Iroler receives no share. her father Frank Iroler may gain 500 as informer.

Express Robbery Near Pensacola Stuns Rail Route

A westbound Louisville and Nashville train between Pensacola and Flomaton was robbed yesterday. Express packages sent from Pensacola banks to Flomaton for employee payments reportedly contained about $70 000. Local authorities investigate the heist amid a string of railroad robberies in the South.

Hartsville men involved in fatal St Petersburg shooting

St Petersburg Florida report says C E Pages a Hartsville carpenter was killed by B J Jackson after a domestic dispute. Hayes, Jackson's relative, was wounded by a shotgun. Jackson surrendered to police claiming self defense though Hayes was unarmed. Both men had come from Hartsville South Carolina. A separate incident in Andrews Florida involved Bill Canteen shooting Isaac Robinson during a card dispute. Canteen at large.
