Ingo mar the Barbarian to Be Staged at Opera House

Arrangements are complete for the comedy drama Ingo mar the Barbarian to be presented Tuesday night at the opera house by Mr and Mrs Edward D Oize with Edward Clark and a strong local cast. Proceeds go to the Ladies Benevolent Society and the event is touted as a memorable entertainment with elaborate costumes and stage settings.

If I Should Die Tonight The Six Beers Across My Frame

A humorous elegy on dying with thirty cents and six large beers unspent. The speaker imagines those beers being wasted on others and laments the melancholy of missing a final drink. The poem closes with an absurd sales pitch urging daily subscriptions to The Item.

Jeff Spires of Miller County was shot and killed by Dr. B V Elmore in Elmore's Kestler drug store after Spires threatened R E Elmore with a knife at the throat. Spires died about twenty minutes later.
