Tomato Club Work Shown At Fair

Exhibits at the State fair feature tomato clubs from four South Carolina counties Greenville Spartanburg Aiken and Barnwell. Initiated two years ago by Miss Marie Cromer of Aiken County she later became State agent for the program. She expects clubs in 12 counties next year and calls the work a major factor in improving rural conditions.

Tragic Shapiro Fire Fatalities in Brooklyn Tenement

In Brooklyn a tenement fire killed the Shapiro parents and left three children injured. As flames trapped them a policeman aided by handing down the children from the second floor windows.
