Dr. Joseph Silver, a noted Atlanta eye specialist, is in Georgetown and staying at the Georgetown Drug Co. for a few days. He is known for thorough eye exams, no glass peddling, and is highly regarded across Georgia.
Lovingston Virginia May 29 special term for trial of former Judge W G Loving charged with murder of Theodore Stes will be held in Houston Half ax County beginning June 24. Judge Arksdale grants change of venue announced at court opening.
In Laurens County a sensational shooting occurred at noon when John Anderson fired three times at his sister in law over a rejected marriage. One bullet grazed her hair and two pierced clothing. He fled to Lydia Mill but was captured later that afternoon near Clinton after a reward was posted by Goldville Cotton Mill Superintendent Wright.
Washington May 29 reports put the federal treasury surplus at about 92 million dollars as the fiscal year ends. If current trends continue, the surplus could top 70 million by year end, with roughly 700 thousand added in the present month.
