Gossip and the dangers of talking about others are urged against. Reports from Lodz Russia describe massacres after a mail robbery. Hotel registers list guests at Piedmont and Tourist and at the Carolina Hotel in Atlanta and surrounding areas.

Pneumatic Cotton Picking Machine enterprise forms in Columbia

A new company in Columbia with $200000 capital plans to market a pneumatic cotton picking machine. The device uses vacuum to lift ripe cotton from the boll and transfer dirt and leaves to another vacuum. Directors include R T Wilson E F Howe and A G Kinyon with R R Malcolm Murray Stewart. The machine weighs about 1000 pounds and could replace forty workers daily.

Billions of Herrings Capture Across Atlantic

The article notes the vast Atlantic herring catch feeding Northern Europe like wheat feeds America. Annual harvest exceeds 8.0 billion herrings weighing about 750000 tons. Shipping needs 25000 railroad cars with 89 ton capacity to move the catch inland. Despite heavy fishing, herrings remain abundant across the Atlantic.
