The river and harbor bill passes the Senate and moves to conference to settle appropriations. In South Carolina Charleston receives 50000 for 28 foot minimum depth in the outer channel, while Georgetown funds are cut from 162000 to 112000.
A misquoted mistral story says Police Commissioner Roiveland er Waldo praised New Yorks police efficiency while noting past flaws. The piece riffs on a comical tale about a man named Smith and a dozen bottles, then mentions Chicago suffragettes planning a 15000 strong parade for the Republican convention and women in San Francisco seeking cigars as gifts.

Violence feared after the killings following a prior encounter with a notorious bootlegger.

In Tampa on May 10 Martha Morterello wife of a local manufacturer killed herself by pouring wood alcohol on her body and lighting it after praying at her baby son’s grave. Two witnesses saw her engulfed in flames before she collapsed near the grave. she died en route to hospital. She left seven daughters and a son who died recently and was believed mentally distressed.
An advertisement touts Hall's Catarrh Cure from F. J. Cheney & Co. Toledo Ohio as the only constitutional cure. It claims to act on blood and mucous surfaces with doses from ten drops to a teaspoonful and offers a $1000 reward for any failure. Sold by druggists at 75 cents, with a note to take Hall's Family Pills for constipation.
Justice Eli Cherry of Gills Mills Tennessee feared cancer from a persistent sore. After doctors failed, he used Bucklen's Arnica Salve and was completely cured. The salve treats burns boils ulcers cuts bruises and piles, price 25 cents at druggists.
The President states it is not his fault that bosses back him yet has not sought court relief. He has not filed an injunction against the backers.
