Spartanburg May 6 Peter Kennedy a prominent farmer living on the line between Spartanburg and Union counties was shot and instantly killed by his brother David Kennedy this afternoon about 1 o clock. The fatal shot followed a dispute over a boundary line separating their lands. Edward Hayes and Peter Kennedy brothers in law quarrelled over the line when David Kennedy retrieved a pistol and killed his brother.

Israel Benjamin, once a prosperous Mayesville merchant, is held on $2000 bail in Brooklyn on a kidnapping charge for his two year old daughter. The mother, recently remarried, alleges he abducted the child after threatening the nurse with a pistol. Police traced him via letters written in the child’s hand to 856 Myrtle Avenue. The child was placed in the care of the Children's Society pending custody.

London reports King Edward VII has died at 11 45 PM. The Prince of Wales becomes King George V and will take the oath this evening. His nine year reign spanned peace in South Africa and the pivotal Peers and Commons struggle, with many planned events halted.
