King Edward I not expected to live as bronchial trouble worsens in London. His fast life is cited as a factor in the deteriorating health, with the report filed from London via Columbia.
The report details the brutal killing of Louisa Simons by Flander Ford last Saturday night in Parkerstown. Ford shot her at 9 pm after an argument, then beat her with a shotgun handle, leaving the scene and vowing more victims. An inquest found Ford a cold blooded murderer and unfit for mercy.
This evening brings much needed rain stalling dry weather and crop damage. Farmers may replant cotton as germination is slowed, corn looks strong. England plans a worldwide naval expedition with a 26,000 ton Princess Royal class battleship at the lead. About two hundred ships of all kinds are to sail for an autumn start next year, visiting Chinese and Indian ports before assembling in the Yellow Sea for further operations.

The University of South Carolina raises normal scholarships to 100 dollars in money plus 40 tuition and 18 term fee remissions. A Palos Alabama explosion at the Palos Coal and Coke Company mine claims between 110 and 150 lives. Rescue crews work at the 100 and 2300 foot levels while officials, contractors, and workers’ relatives await updates and word on entombed miners. The blast, likely started by a lighted lamp in an abandoned chamber, leaves little hope for survivors amid varying counts of workers present.
