In Poughkeepsie on July 25 Lillian Graham, famed sharpshooter from the Stokes case, reappears at the Morgan House registered as Lillian Clarke. Eight are dead and sixty seriously injured after a head on collision between a colored excursion train from Durham to Charlotte and a freight train in Hamlet yards. Among the dead are Edna Hall Edith Hall Lisbon Hall Rosa Perry Dora Day Sis Webb Samuel Miller and Johny Cameron all from Durham. Four white railroad workers were badly hurt including Engineer Ben Konoch Conductor W H Bowen Engineer A Taylor and fireman Albert Gary. The cause is unknown. Fifty injured were brought to Charlotte on a special train andHospitals care for the rest at Hamlet. Five years ago a similar wreck occurred within a mile of today scene with twenty nine deaths.
