The distinguished New Jersey surgeon Dr. X apologized after an on air dispute with a telephone operator. He spoke sharply when she answered curtly and was told he had hurt her feelings. He later called back to apologize and and asked her to “take it off” in a testy exchange.

White Girl Attacked Near Santee Railroad
Union witnesses report Lester Becknell and W Massey attacked 16 or 18 year old Miss Fannie Vaughn and assaulted her on the Southern Railroad near Spartanburg. Massey claims Becknell committed the assault while Massey watched. Becknell is charged. Massey held as witness. Vaughn’s brother-in-law stabbed Massey in a minor wound.

Drunken Montgomery Farmer Killed by Officer
Montgomery Alabama December 10 F F Barr a Montgomery County farmer was shot and killed tonight by Policeman Searcy on Commerce street after Barr fired his revolver at the officer. A stray bullet wounded Richard Galatis a prominent young man who was nearby.
