John Fleming's Nerve Saves Him From Water Grave

Augusta boy John Fleming 10 survived long drift after falling overboard near Rose Island. He floated with the tide, shed heavy overalls, swam to shore when near land, and was found by two men. Indicted For Wife Murder In Clinton Court

The grand jury returned one indictment against Frederick Magill and one against his wife Faye Graham Magill in the death of Mrs. Pet Magill. Indictments list six counts each alleging murder by poisoning and related methods. The court sustained part of the motion to quash but allowed other counts to stand. The defense sought consolidation and speedy trials, with a ruling due on timing for next week or November. Both defendants pleaded not guilty.

Marine Arrivals and Departures Noted for Local Shipments

Three ships arrived and departed with naval stores lumber and merchandise. The Eutaw under Turpin was bound for Pee Dee River to B A Munnerlyn Co. Frank Sessoms with Sarvis of Bucksville to B. Aragon Mowatt of New York lumber sailed by Atlantic Coast Lumber Co. Mitchelle C Dusenbury of Conway transported merchandise with Waccamaw Line Steamers.
