The week saw excessive heat early with clear skies and three days at or above 100 degrees. Later days brought cooler, cloudier weather with frequent showers and heavy rains in western central and southwestern counties. Extreme highs reached 104 at Blackville and Newberry on the 24th and lows of 66 at Greenville and Camden on the 24th 25th and 26th. Precipitation averaged below normal, with Yamassee’s 8.10 inches the heaviest, and some areas receiving two to three inches. Severe central and western thunderstorms produced strong winds light hail and minor crop damage. Sunshine was above normal overall, highest in the west.
