Peter D Daly of New York leaped from the Titanic deck as boats were confirmed enough for women and children. He swam for six hours to stay warm, finally picked up by a Carpathia lifeboat, numb with cold and reluctant to recount the ordeal.

An additional 14 boats and rafts were obtained, providing life saving accommodation for about 2000 persons. On the next westward voyage there will be life boats for every person aboard both passengers and crew.
