Stillman and Co. Cabinet Maker opens a Bay Street shop above the Market offering mahogany furniture. The range includes sofas chairs secreteries bookcases piano fortes side boards and drafting tables with custom work on order. They expect new mahogany stock from New York by the first of the month and invite customers to call and examine.
Names of letters remaining at the Georgetown Post Office dated January 1840 include Atkinson Jonah MeAllston Doctor Wom Anderson Alex W Aston John Avant David R W Axum John B Baker Captain Cyrus Bassett Charles Jr. and many others. Readers with letters must request by name from CHAPMAN P. M. at the post office.

Clerks repair watches and engraving is done on short notice, with firearms and accessories also listed. The notice is dated November 23 with no year.
