Second Declaration of the Laws of the United States Twenty-Sixth Congress
The act provides for collection, safekeeping, transfer and disbursement of public money. It establishes Treasury rooms and vaults, deposits at Philadelphia Mint and New Orleans Branch Mint, and receivers general at New York Boston Charleston St Louis. It sets duties for treasurers, depositaries, and checks by naval officers and others with strict penalties for embezzlement.
