County Reclaims 1000 Acres South of Peoria With Levee
A thousand acres of arable land will be added to the county opposite Peoria. Levee contracts along the Winois river extend from the lower Peoria and Pekin Union bridge to Farm Creek. Farm tracts and factory sites will replace swamp. reclamation cost is $50,000 with a value of $500,000 at completion.

Rock Island county saloons shut after grand jury threat
The first Sunday closing of all saloons in Rock Island county followed a grand jury threat to indict city and village officials if the state Sunday closing law was not enforced. Officials were notified that violations could lead to removal from office and a 10000 dollar fine. Moline Rock Island East Moline Watertown Silvis Coal Valley Searsport Rapids City Davenport also joined the closures.

Former Cleveland Resident Dies in Moline
The remains of John Hedval of Cleveland Illinois were buried in Riverside cemetery on Sunday after funeral services at Esterdahl chapel. Born in Sweden November 26 1879 he had lived in the United States less than a year and spent time with a brother in Cleveland before his death at City hospital from injuries when a tree fell at his home village seven months earlier.
