Surveyors straighten lines between farms near Colona
A Colons correspondent reports county surveyor spent two days aligning fences between the farms of Andrew Burg and Albert Hall north of Colona. The Burg parcel included over three acres, with Burg holding about half as much on the other side. Fences dated 1 and 18 years ago, and an old cornerstone was found four feet underground. Nearby, Sack had cut valuable timber on the Burg land.

Rev A J Drake, longtime pastor of the Iroquois Congregational church, died May 8 following a sudden heart failure after aiding a small fire at his parsonage. Macy safe through four trips weekly of butchers wagons from Cambridge supplying fresh meat. Young people enjoyed a social party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Simonton last Friday. A party of migrating citizens passed through town trading lace. Greaser was pleased with work in the store of Wallin Wonnerstrom Co. Mr. J L Jeontogs accepted an offer to travel for Western Reversible Road Grader. leaves next week. A goodly congregation gathered at the State road church last Sabbath. minister unable to come. Misses Jessie Buck and Lizzie Stuart of Cambridge accompanied Miss Laura Brown home from Geneseo and Cambridge last Thursday. Mr Geo Funk drove fat cattle through town to the Rewane market delivered to Fischer Bros. unusually fine stock, mostly Polled Angus.

In Geneseo Illinois on May 12 1883 a special session saw bonds approved and saloon and billiard licenses granted after bonds were presented. Fire marshal position arose with C J Limte Sola and A G Sommers nominated. Limte won with four votes to Sommers three. Crossing repair petition referred to Street and Sidewalk committee. Adjourned.
