The Kewanee Chronicle reports the death of John A Norton, longtime resident and former partner at Norton & Son. Cause listed as valvular heart disease after years of illness. Interment arranged at Atkinson. services delayed as family and friends prepare.
May Mre Lebman to quite sick. Her Shuttee father is reported to be quite feobte. Mr Henry Aroett of Lorraine was in the vicinity yesterday. Ott and meno sroponm at work at Ackerman's house in Alda. Rov Febr was both services at Sabbath at Center school house. Mr Fred Schhrader of Loraine is working up his farm here this week. Mrs John Vandermoon and Sam Weber spent the Sabbath in Loraine. Mr and Mrs Sam Happ of Loraine visited with relatives there Sunday. A Miller erected a windmill the flat part of the wreck for Wilbur Stowell. Mr Lewis Beechel is quite sick. under care of Dr S McGreen. Misa Anna Boccohette working for her sister Mrs W Heller near Atkinson. Mr Elmer Mathis of Prophetstown spent several days here recently with relatives. Mr Henry Smith and Vernie of Geneseo were out Tuesday and Wednesday of last week. Mr Edward Fehlman was in Chicago the greater part of last week purchasing spring goods. Mr and Mrs A Shere and Mrs Bert Mapes visited with relatives to Geneseo. Quarterly meeting will be held at Hoop Pole school house by Ellier F Enters Sunday Stay 14th. The basket supper at the ball Saturday eight was a comes Spuscuse: Thommuate which was furnish and was grand. The extra wueto Lane but Smith Bros was exceedingly interesting. A large number were present to witness the occasion.
West Hanna reports Elmer Davis visited the tri-cities Saturday while W W Quillin dropped by Cleveland Sanday. Quillin was at the county seat last week. HsR Taylor raised a new barn. Mrs R A Smith of Molroc visited Mrs H N Hanna. Rev J A Alford gave a lecture at the M B church Saturday evening. Rev Edward Snell came from Ablerd on Sunday and preaches every other week at Bricking Center school houses.
James Monroe Brown a veteran of the 151st Illinois Infantry from Fulton County born November 18 1843 died May 4 1893 at his home in Munson Township Penry County Funeral was May 7 with Rev N W Thornton officiating He was a farmer and staunch Republican and is survived by wife Martha E Myers and three children Mae E Roy Scott and Frank H The burial was in Morristown Cemetery with large funeral cortege and military attendance including members of Augustus A Dunn Post No 486 G A R

Osco mourns Jas Brown with no church services due to a funeral. Burns correspondent urged to continue Munson items. many farmers have turned stock to pasture, pasture appears better than expected this spring.
Cornish dairy and farming notes report busy days planting corn under clear skies. Local social life highlights include the Witling Workers event at Mr Dynes and twin colt ownership by Mr FP 8 Johnson. School and church activity is noted with Zion preaching and Sunday school at 10 each Sabbath. New arrivals, Mr and Mrs Peter Haars with four children, came from Quigium and stay with brothers Jake and John while planning a move to the old Linton place.

The late James Brown was laid to rest at Evergreen cemetery in Morristown last Sabbath at 1 30 p m with Hev N W Thornton officiating. The Morristown choir prepared music but a timing misunderstanding kept part of the choir away. After services it was learned that children from the Sabbath school were to sing, a plan not expected due to miscommunication.
Mr J S Neator plants an orchard on his farm here. Farmers in the area begin planting corn Monday. Mr P Stafford returns from the World o Fair City. Mrs Wilson and a son spend Sunday at Mr Palmer Stafford's. Miss Tena Maldstedt visits Genesco with her sister. Miss Kate Allen ill but improving. Rev Alford returns after nearly a year absent. W W B will meet with Mrs Thomas Thursday May 18 in the afternoon. Mr Allen, former station agent, leaves for Seneca to take charge of the station.
Amelia Rahn of Atkinson township Henry County Illinois swore an affidavit recounting a 21 April 1893 visit by two men including a Chapman who claimed to be Sheriff of Henry County and an agent of George A Ogle & Co offering an atlas for 15 dollars. Peter Kropf and Fred Rahn senior corroborated the event and described the man as short with a faded brown mustache.
