The Quarterly Conference of the MEE church Geneseo Ill passed resolutions praising the Rev C Woodruff a central Illinois conference minister who is moving to Magnolia Minn They regret his leaving commend him to Magnolia citizens and pray God’s blessings on his new home The resolutions were to be recorded and published in Geneseo and Luverne papers with copies to Woodruff and conference officials.
Fred Johnson lost a spring colt named Mr Jacob Rogers lost a wee hog to lightning last Friday. A gathering of Sauders ladies attended the Zion social. Misa Bear visits from Pengeylivanis. Haymaking begins as crowds hear that Phalla Dexter plans to marry William Patterson on the twelfth of the month in Crawford Idaho. Pleasant Ash Sunday school has met weekly for over three years, led by Mr and Mrs Dean who receive praise.

Ferris hosts his daughter and son-in-law at the hotel. A Curts relative and Geneseo guest visit colona house. Wisconsin visitors of Mrs Witherspoon’s brothers return from the fair. Priethhen and son from Minneapolis attend Briar Bluff coal interests. Lary Burns of Ough Nebraska greets old friends, back after eight years. T W Reese Jr returns from Falcon. Max Bale and Nellie Johnson come home. Mrs Bessie Baum, Blanche Sherrill, Etta Baum arrive. J T Long to lecture temperance Tuesday July 18 at M E church. Cotona choir to provide music. Invites neighboring towns to attend.
July happenings include births and health updates, school teaching plans in District No 4, returns from the World's Fair, improving health of Miss Cora Pettit and Miss Lydia Brown, a hay wagon runaway injuring a horse, Rev C S Fehr back from Gospel Conference, visits by Willie and Wesley Holzinger, church work on a new Catholic vestry, family visits from Geneseo and Peoria, a new blacksmith shop at Hoop Pole, and travel news of Ed Countryman and the Zunkel family returning to Pilot Mound Iowa.
Annawan July 18 highlights include Mr. Barker and Prof. Folzinger visiting Cambridge, Mrs. Linehan with son Dick visiting Mrs. Camp, and Uncle John Crossley’s return from the fair. Butter shipments rise at the creamery, local farming and school notices, visitors from Chicago and Omaha, and a tale of a fortunate large cheese shipment. Tramps and rail riders intrigue residents as trains pass through town.
A district Sunday school convention will be held at Salem church in Pink Prairie on Sunday July 16. The program includes a morning service by Rev E W Thompson, talks by H E H Ott and J M Hartley, and sessions on Sunday School work, teacher preparation, and eliminating obstacles with participants such as Wm Kempster P D m and Miss Orson Aldrich. An afternoon program features song service, lesson review, and a business meeting led by P D Ransom.
Mr J Corwin has a fine new barn under construction. About thirty one pigs from Jesse Tracy's herd were carried off by wolves. Frank Monkman and John McClain celebrated the fourth at Black Hawks Tower and spoke of the aidits they saw. At Fred Baugh's dance a prize went to Miss Augusta Blankenfeldt and Arch McClain. Two orphans were brought from Davenport by an agency rep to find homes, Mrs Morton and Mrs John Smith taking them. Marshel George Smith led a 195 yard foot race with a milk cart and ice cream behind him. the long run was noted in passing.
Osco July and Wm Hingle return from Kansas as corn is laid by and hay work begins. Geo Brown and Misses Mae Brown and Nettie Rivenburg back from White City. Grace church services next Sunday at 10 30. Rev K Mercer away, Prof J L Whitty of Lewiston IL to fill in. Osco Harneys Co halters advertised for sale by the dozen. Heaters urged to read G R Smith ad. Also selling cash, a fine Dawson Co Nebraska quarter section worth 15 per acre, for 10.
