China Expert to Talk to Kiwanis

The Geauga County Kiwanis Club hosts the Rotary Club of Burton at Town Hall Claridon on Thursday evening October 18. Guest speaker Manly C. Jensen, new to Geauga, spent twenty five years in China Mongolia and Korea ending in 1941. He returned to China briefly to retrieve possessions and left before the crisis. Jensen formerly led Shangai Rotary and was past president of Rotary at Ouray Colorado. In 1933 he moved to Washington DC where the Masons honored him with the 33rd degree for his work in China with the Order of the Eastern Star.

Chardon Alumni Offer Free Football Lesson to Team

Chardon high school football teams may receive a rough but non injurious lesson from alumni led by William McMaster next Friday under booster field lights. Open House draws 3500 at Geauga Historical Museum

More than 3,500 visitors attended Geauga Historical Museum’s two day open house ending Sunday night. Apple butter, cider, doughnuts and farm produce sold out by 6 p.m. highlights included pioneer displays, an old-time orchestra, garbed volunteers, and a replica century old parlor melodeon case.

Chardon to Host Halloween Parade Oct 31

Chardon Main Street and square will host a Halloween celebration October 31 with a big parade of witches goblins and spooks and floats. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes window pictures and pumpkin faces followed by cider and doughnuts. Details and prizes to be announced next week.

Airview Inn Changes Hands In Charldon Airport Venture

Tom Rees of Youngstown leases the Airview Inn at Charldon airport and announces a grand opening slated for Saturday October 20. Anne Rees will assist. hours are 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. The restaurant will feature steak dinners and a jukebox with 5 000 to 6 000 phonograph records. Rees previously ran a Kingston Pennsylvania restaurant for two and a half years.
