Two Women Injured in Route 422 Car Crash

Susan Bethune 64 and Margaret Bethune 84 of Chardon were seriously hurt on Route 422 Saturday while riding with Crissiena Hanson Greening. They were en route to a funeral and admitted to St Luke's hospital in critical and fair condition.

Hambden Ladies Aid to Hear TB Speaker on Tuberculosis Control

Newbury Man Placed on Probation and Guardianship

Clarence McNiece, 71, of Watt Road, is placed on probation and under guardianship and care of his son after a judge imposed the decision. The ruling by Judge William K. Thomas places the minor child under protective supervision.

Funeral services for Leo Thrasher honor Troy resident

Funeral services for Leo Thrasher, former Troy resident, were held at Mallory Funeral Home in Garrettsville on Thursday June 26 at 1 30 p m Burial took place in Mumford Cemetery. Mr and Mrs Howard Pool and family visited Clarence Whitlam at his home. Mrs Calla Berger visited her mother Mrs Frank Clarrey in Medina last Saturday. Mr and Mrs Harold Wagner and family plan to settle in Florida after selling their farm to Mr and Mrs Michael Furda. Daisy Pendleton of Pope Home attended the Pelmer reunion at Chagrin Falls Sunday. Bongo and Mrs Richard Schrad hosted a Sunday weiner roast for 18 relatives including Kutolowski family. Rex Kaiser, son of Mr and Mrs Jascela Kaiser, remains ill with rheumatic fever.

Evening Primrose Blooming in Chester Garden

Mr and Mrs H W McGrew host many callers as rare evening primroses, Demothera, bloom nightly from about 9:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Flowers open in a rapid sequence, then fade by dawn, with 64 blooms one night and 36 the next. The four petaled lemon yellow blossoms measure about three inches.

Geauga County earned a net 1951 income of 45.208 million across 7,700 families, averaging 5871 per family and surpassing national and East North Central averages. County retail sales reached 18.134 million, up from 16.765 million in 1950, with a buying power quota showing 0.0175 percent of national retail business versus 0.0120 percent actually captured.

Merger Proposal Seeks Consolidation of Geauga Districts

Ask Merger of Geauga submits the request to the county school board for consolidation of Newbury and West Geauga. Newbury favors the move, West Geauga initially opposes but now supports due to state pressure and crowded conditions. A letter seeks approval, with the matter to be discussed at the July 19 meeting.

Denny Perry of Burton won the 10-14 year class in dairy judging at the S. S. Kauffman farm in Auburn. Janet Fenwick of Claridon took the 14-20 year class prize, while Robert Fenwick of Claridon won first in the 20 year and above class on June 29.
