Bloodmobile visits set for Geauga County in February

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will visit Chardon and Burton February 11 and 12 asking donors 18 to 60 years old to give at least one pint. Blood collected supports national and local needs with 40 percent for military use. collection sites are Burton Congregational Church and Chardon Methodist Church. Transportation will be provided and appointments arranged through the Geauga County Red Cross Chapter.

Kiwanis Speaker to discuss Speech and Hearing Correction

At the January 31 meeting of the Chardon Kiwanis club Mr. Robert N. Hills will address the group on Our Role in a program of Speech and Hearing Correction. Hills, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Hills of Chardon, lives in Middlefield and recently earned a B A from Hiram College. He plans to receive an M A from Kent State University this spring and is currently a speech and hearing therapist for the Warrensville Heights public schools.

Bostwick Announces Re election Bid for Geauga Prosecutor

Geauga County prosecuting attorney Harold K Bostwick declares candidacy on the Republican ticket with filing planned for the May primary. He cites a record of legal counsel work for county boards, numerous indictments and prosecutions, and tax collection efforts bringing in funds for the county. He lists education, licenses, and memberships in local fraternal and professional groups.

Chester Community Institute Holds 41st Chester Event

The Chester Community Institute in the Chester school building on January 24 drew 780 attendees with morning and evening bands, dances, and speakers. Officers were elected for 1953, and exhibits by the Chester Study Club, West Geauga Industrial Arts class, and local groups earned top prizes amid a "Winter Wonderland" theme.

Parkman Woman Gears Up For Japan Visit

Mrs. Marjorie Newkirk of Parkman plans to join her husband Captain Newkirk in Japan after his 15 months in Korea and recent posting abroad. Their daughter Carol Mac, 3, and son William Junior, 3, await papers for a reunion in a distant land. Captain Newkirk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hopkins, is well known in Parkman and Mantua Station.

Travelogue on Ruins of Old Mexico by Rev Williams

The Rev. W. E. Williams of the Kirtland Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ will present a travelogue with colored slides Sunday at 7 30 p.m. in the Thrasher house Chardon. He toured six major ruins near Mexico City including Mitla Monte Alban Cholula Teotihuacan Xochicalco and Tula, noting many sites yet to be excavated. Tula is dated about 500 years B C.

A resident confined to bed and wheelchair moved about her home in a chair. Rickie Patfield of Willoughby stayed at Jerry Inkster’s home for a week. John Petro and the Daniel Dennistons were summoned to Cleveland due to the death of Joseph Kalal, who was a brother of the late Mrs. John Petro.
