Chicago authorities led by Prosecutor Charles E. Rathbun said the real slayer of Tribune reporter Alfred Jake Lingle would be arrested within two weeks. Recount Disputed in Lake County Clerk Contest

In Valparaiso Indiana Joseph Doyle, Democrat, challenged Foree, Republican incumbent, over a recount in Lake County. A court referee declined to intervene, leaving the state board to resolve watcher's status and the final tally with Doyle claiming ten fewer votes in Liberty Township than the election board, amid a delayed recount process.

Detectives Fire On Looters In South Chicago Yard

In the Weimond yards of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad detectives shot two youths after they fled a halt command while looting a box car. One boy, Chuffin Lane 17, died shortly after with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. A wounded companion, Martin Doe, survived. Two other youths were arrested on open charges and a fifth escaped. The incident occurred near the Ludiana Illinois state line as the group attempted to carry six smoked hams from the car.

Waller Injured In Fast Chicago Motorcycle Crash

W e o Waller Lock of 1504 Calumet avenue Hammond sustained a severe crash injury at 2 p m yesterday at the intersection of 141st street and Kennedy avenue. He was taken to St Catherine's hospital in an automobile by W O J Murray. Pred B Welbing driver of a southbound sedan on Kennedy avenue collided with Lock's northbound motorcycle. Lock suffers a broken back possible internal injuries and other wounds. Doctor J E Komoroske reported his condition very serious.

Hammond contractor wins LaRue Road bid in Ross township

Bids from William F. Bktek John Wheeler Frank McVey and others for the two mile La Rue road project in Ross township were opened by county commissioners. William C Probst of Hammond was awarded the contract. Dyer Woman Bruised by Car on Lincoln Highway

Miss Eva Ambre, a well known Dyer resident, was struck by a machine driven by W. G. Rohr of Chicago while crossing the Lincoln highway yesterday. She received bruises, was given first aid in Hammond, then transported to St. Margaret's hospital.
