Temperature readings from First Trust and Savin Bank buildings show a warm day with Hammond reporting above zero at 7:30 AM and W- A above zero at noon. Weather remains partly cloudy at noon with sunrise at 5 00 PM and sunset at 6 37 PM.
Machir J. Dorsey of Northern States Life in Hammond says his knowledge of a life crime plot by Dr. Andrew J. Bass is based on newspaper reports. Bass confessed to killing Pic hot Willian RR. Pearman to secure a $200,000 policy and to collaterals. Dorsey canceled a $100,000 policy citing business reasons. Bass later revised his confession and said no others were involved. Dorsey plans to plead insanity. Bass and Dorsey had prior business dealings in Kansas City real estate.
Hammond police hunt a woman in connection with a Sunday head on collision near Munster that left seven men injured and one possibly fatally. Both cars reportedly traveled at over fifty miles per hour and were demolished. Several injured were found at the roadside. authorities identified victims including J. S. Phillipe and others from Hammond and nearby towns.
A Saturday night raid in Whiting by 49 officials from city county and federal agencies led to the arrest of eight liquor establishment proprietors. The operation included 41 Lake County deputies and Whiting police. Several venues were unmanned or closed due to church services. Bonds set at 2,900 dollars allowed some prisoners to be released.
In Indianapolis, George Dunn, 38, a Belt Railway brakeman, was crushed between two freight cars at Kentuck Avenue and the Belt railroad. A misread signal by the engineer caused the backing motion in the rain, leading to the fatality. Dunn’s body was found in the right of way.

A bottle recovered at Bayeun on April 1 bears a note signed by Francois Nungesser, the missing aviator from the Paris to New York attempt. The message claims prisoners of Indians near the Saint Lawrence and a ransom demand of 30 000 francs dated April 1928, with Nungesser described as very ill. A series of wrecks on slick streets over the weekend in Gare left one man dead and several injured. Jebur Bultosar, 25, lost control on a wet road and skidded into a ditch, dying at the scene. Brigide Nhenelan, 18, was hospitalized with broken injuries. Others from Chicago and Michigan City were treated at Methodist Hospital for various injuries after collisions and pedestrian mishaps.

In Hendersonville North Carolina April 21 1930 an agent Clarence Howard deputy federal prohibition officer was killed when his car stopped at a traffic light. The suspect Schwartz fled two blocks to the county jail and surrendered after the shooting. He had been arrested Saturday on liquor charges and after release threatened the agent.
Albion Indiana April 21. Dr Woodward Hayes 47 a local physician was found dead in bed at his sister s home the coroner ruled accidental death due to an overdose of chloroform which Hayes reportedly used regularly.
Tessie Edeter 17 and Edwin Sidgley held on bonds after James Phelan died Saturday night on Oleatt avenue near East Chicago. Phelan was struck by a vehicle driven by a man identified as Mr Phehan. witnesses say he collapsed and died instantly. Police Hart and Aureweki detained the driver, and the body was taken to Huber's for burial. The father of Edeter and Sidgley was detained for allowing a minor to drive. the Smith family mourns as funeral plans are announced for Moris eweagin with interment in Peoria.

In Plymouth Jud April S1 a father Lafayuette Vories found his 22 year old son Glen dead on the sidewalk. The body was turned over with neighbor help and believed to have died of a heart attack shortly before the discovery.
