September Wedding Bells United Elizabeth Smith and Dr Rich

Miss Elizabeth Smith of Woods Cross and Dr. William L. Rich of Salt Lake City were married in the Salt Lake Temple on a Wednesday. The nurse graduate daughter of W. E. Smith, and the groom a noted physician from Paris Idaho, will reside in Salt Lake City after October 1 at a cottage on Austin Street. A homecoming reception followed at Riverside hosted by Mrs. Capener and the Relief Society.

The Utah Idaho Sugar Company will start operating its Garland plant around October 1, 1909. Former employees must report in person or by letter to the Garland office by September 20, 1909.

Business Changes in Garland Market and Local Properties

Wednesday E H Bingham bought a half interest in the Garland Meat Market from Wim Thomas and the firm will operate as Thomas & Bingham. They also bought land between the Bank and Grover Sons to relocate the butcher shop before next week. E E Bingham, Owens Hotel proprietor, rented the Main and Cutler corner building for a rooming house, with Mrs Bingham to take possession next Monday.

Peach Day At Brigham Shines With Festive Honors

Brigham City hosts Peach Day with large crowds and vast fruit displays. The Commercial Club led by John J. Knudson and Peach Day Manager C. Simonson organized festivities from depot arrivals to Central School exhibits. Over 25,000 souvenir peach boxes were distributed as prize lists, with events including high diving shows and a baseball victory at City park.

A bell shaped kitchen shower at the home of Mrs H B Foulger honored Dr William L Rich. Guests included M J Mendunes H B Foulger and C O Anderson among others. The event featured parlor games, a gum molding contest, and humorous unwrapping of gifts while the doctor received a mop stick and other household items.

Opening of Fall Campaign at Garland Sugar Factory 1909

The Garland Sugar Factory launches its 1909-10 campaign starting October 1 with extensive preparations around the Great Bear River Valley. Beets have been sampled for ten days, and Supt. T. H. Edwards expects about 700 tons of beets daily to process into sugar. The campaign runs to mid or late January 1910, and former employees are urged to report by September 20.

Sunday Mormon Services and Street Meeting Draw Crowd

Bp Capener led Sunday services with Elders Grover and Smith administering the sacrament. Speakers Rogers and Rice preached as Walter Michaelis was recommended for ordination. Evening meetings featured Nutting defining God as spirit, with a lively street meeting at Main and Factory streets drawing a large crowd.
