Citizens Nominate Garland Town Officers At Mass Meeting

A Garland mass meeting selected Mosiah Evans for town president by 25 to 22 and J T Lant, Joseph Jensen, J W Lewis, and H Boyd as trustees. Delegates nominated included Joseph Jensen and J W Lewis. final ticket lists Evans for president and Lant Jensen Lewis Boyd for trustees. The gathering set ahead to the November municipal election.

Meat Market Changes Hands In Local Trade

J. Fr. Owens sold the city meat market to N. A. Petersen of Elwood who took charge Wednesday morning. Petersen is an experienced butcher who formerly ran the Main and Cutler streets shop. Owens has rented his home to Petersen, who will move in soon.

Relief Society Bazar Preparations Highlight Stake Event

Preparations underway for the B R Stake Relief Society Bazar to be held in the city on November 1. Sisters across the stake are sewing quilts dresses underskirts nightgowns and other useful items to be sold at reasonable prices. Each word will have a separate booth and an excellent program is planned.

Burglars Break Into Jensen Bros Furniture Store

Between 8 05 and 8 30 p m last Saturday burglars forced entry at Jensen Bros Furniture by breaking the back door lock. The firm reported no missing goods but suspects entry was for stealing tools to aid a planned robbery. Citizens urged to keep weapons ready.

Ladies' Self-Culture Club Meets at Edwards Home

The Ladies' Self-Culture Club gathered at Mrs. Annie Edwards on Factory street with 19 members present. President Celia Grover led as Mrs. Wallis was ill, Grace Evans joined, LaVon Smith reported on her Salt Lake W C trip, a $10 stake tabernacle appropriation was voted, dues rise to 80 cents quarterly, and a party to judge home surroundings was planned for November first with Nellie Rose hosting in two weeks.

Death of Mrs Barnard in Plymouth

Ellen Pierson Barnard of Plymouth died in Tremont on Sunday after an illness that began last April. She was 69, wife of Laconus Barnard and stepmother of O Barnard of this city. Funeral services were held at the Plymouth meeting house Monday with burial in Willard on Tuesday. She was a well known early settler of Box Elder County with many relatives and friends.

Thos. R. Jones pleaded guilty to petty larceny in a case with Ben Adams and paid a $10 fine plus costs after confessing money hidden in Preston's barn. John Harden attempted to assault a 5 year old girl. bonds set at 500 and he is jailed in Garland. Nick Peterson pled guilty to assault and was fined 20. Jimmie Henmann case with Jimmie Honmuaru dismissed at cost to complainant.
