May 21 1910 Garland Globe editor J A Wixom receives a letter from Harry B Shaw Assistant Pathologist urging coverage of filter sterilization. The note warns unclean filters may spread sickness and recommends extra bougie filters and spreading guidance via paper or circulars to prevent illness.
A 1910 letter from Mr. R. L. Bush of Utah Idaho Sugar Co discusses employees at the Experiment Station using the Champion faucet filter. He notes the device can filter sediment and bacteria only if thoroughly cleaned and sterilized by boiling weekly, warning that bacteria can breed in the filter otherwise.
May 26 1910 Salt Lake City Utah secretary Joseph E Caine writes to D C Chapman Town Clerk praising the reception and meeting in Chapman's town and expressing appreciation for support in efforts to build up Utah.
Karl S S Lechtenburg a noted Ogden musician and piano tuner died Monday night from injuries after falling from a wagon rear of Garland Harness Co He was born May 23 1873 in Salt Lake City and was a grandson of pioneer Peter Nebeker His funeral was held this afternoon
Amateurs from Garland led by Maggie Murphy faced Logan in Decoration Day action at City Park. Garland scored five runs to Logan’s one with Murphy injuring a leg early, Drysdale finishing the last four innings. A return game is set for Garland next Saturday with a $50 bet on Logan.
The Mutual Improvement Association held a weekly recreation event for boys at City Park last Saturday.
