Miss Edith M. Woodill, 22, wife of a Los Angeles resident, was found dead in Mack River near St. Michaels Maryland. John T Roberts writer and newspaper correspondent is charged with murder amid strong evidence. Roberts was seen with Woodill after dental work in Easton and took her to St. Michaels where they boarded a launch toward a creek near their home. The body was weighted down with an iron post and skull crushed, last seen aboard the launch.
Victoria B C eight lives were lost while salvage divers worked on the wreck of the Dakota off Shiranama near Toklo Bay before the Kaga Maru sailings. A dynamite charge exploded as a diver prepared to descend, ending the salvage effort and claiming multiple lives.
Mrs. Alice Grundy, wife of Richard Grundy heir to a Toronto millionaire, waited two days for reconciliation and then drew a revolver from her handbag and fired at her husband outside his father’s house in Long Beach California. She says they married fourteen months ago and that he refused funds, prompting his plan to return to his father’s home.
Manila reports successful operations against JiKiris band of Moro raiders by Captains Byram Hodges and Anderson of the Sixth Cavalry cooperating with the mosquito fleet. In a running engagement on Pata Island five bandits were killed several wounded and several captured by friendly Moros.
Sanford Robinson, personal counsel to F Augustus Heinze, was convicted in the United States district court on Thursday of impeding the administration of justice by advising a grand jury witness to evade service of a subpoena. The jury recommended mercy. The trial of Arthur P Helaze for abetting the escape of Tracy Buckingham from the subpoena server began Thursday.
Mexico City reports Alfredo Sanchez, a famed bull fighter, killed Sunday afternoon when a bull gored him and pierced a lung inside the local arena. Another matador, Kl TH, was badly injured after a bull jumped a fence and gored him in the head during the same performance.
Thomas J. O'Brien sails for home on the liner Mongolia to extend his vacation in the United States and Europe. Mrs. O'Brien remains in Buffalo after a short stay in Washington. Government officials and diplomats gather at the station to bid him farewell as Peter C. Jay takes charge of the legation during the absence.
William Jennings Bryan Jr and Miss Helen Virginia Berger wed at 8:00 Thursday morning outdoors at Kinnikinte lodge on Grand Lake Colorado west shore. The ceremony occurred under pine trees with Miss Edna Baker of Lincoln Nebraska as maid of honor and Samuel Berger, bride’s brother, as best man.
