A Wednesday meeting of the Ladies' Self-Culture Club at Mrs. Heber C. Cutler's home elected officers for six months. President Mrs. T. H. Edwards led the roll call with 21 members and one visitor, Mrs. A. M. Granger.
Last Sunday afternoon services were led by First Counselor Thos E Secrist with congregational singing and hymns. Elders J H Archibald and F O Haws administered the sacrament as 49 attended and 13 officers and teachers were listed with 5 excused and 47 absent.

The competition by railroad affiliates awards first prize of 500 dollars to L A Snyder of Twin Falls for Dalmeny Challenge potatoes with 34 535 marketable pounds. Second prize of 250 dollars goes to W B Gilmore of Payette for Peachblow with 33 006 marketable pounds. Officials from Utah and Idaho sign the record in Salt Lake City on January 13, 1911.
The Burley special farmers train halted for over an hour in Garland drawing a large turnout of farmers and awake local business leaders. Lectures, livestock car, dry farm exhibit, and expert speakers including Merrell Carlyle Ball Caine Frandson Eldredge Gregg Boswell and Smith provided practical farming insights for the valley. The trip began in Malad with stops at Corinne and Brigham along the main line.
Next Monday and Tuesday January 23 and 24 members of the Utah Press Association will be hosted in Logan. A special train departs Salt Lake at 8 a.m. Monday, arriving in Logan at noon for a luncheon, meetings, officer elections, and a grand social. Tuesday features a morning meeting at Utah Agricultural College, luncheon, campus tours, and a 4:15 p.m. return to Salt Lake arriving at 10:30 p.m. Notable speakers and music are planned.
Elder Goats of Lehi recently returned from a 33 month Germany mission. He served in various German mission conferences and led the Austrian conference. In Garland he stayed with Uncle Chas Munns and family, spending time with Archie Munns Walter Michaelis and Ariel Hansen of Fielding.
A. M. Austin reports sheep in western Box Elder County are doing fine after a recent trip. He notes only about six inches of snow is needed for the pasture.
Salt Lake Elks Lodge hosts a public excursion from Salt Lake City to California with rates for both directions via Salt Lake route at 35 dollars and other combinations 41.20 or 60.75. Tickets usable until March 7th with sleeper reservations through B G Raybould secretary if lodge.

Thursday afternoon Miss Helen Rose hosted about twenty five children for a birthday party at her home. The celebration featured birthday cake apples candy and popcorn and left a very pleasant afternoon in Mantua and surrounding towns. Hans Hansen of Mantua an uncle of the Jensen brothers died at his Mantua home Monday and services were held there Wednesday. Joseph Jensen Peter Jensen of this city Hyrum Jensen of Colington and Alvin Keller of Tremonton attended the funeral. Mrs David P Squires of Ogden daughter of Mrs J C Wheelon gave her husband a fine son early Tuesday morning. Mrs Wheelon returned home Tuesday evening and reports fall concerned to be on the improve.
