Manausa Reports Florida Lands Seen by Palm Beach Farm Co

A. B. Manausa returned from a five week tour of Palm Beach Florida with details of lands offered for sale by Palm Beach Farms Co. He praised soil quality deep loam sandy surface, ideal climate and strong market interest among 60 in his party. Two Scandinavian men expressed intent to sell and buy land as others rushed to invest. Manausa also visited Jacksonville St Augustine Miami and noted fishing and boating before reuniting with family in Chicago.

Brigham City to gain new railroad car lines

The Oregon Short Line Railroad plans a depot to Main street line in Brigham City and the council will discuss the franchise with railroad officials. An extension by the Oden Rapid Transit to Main and Forest streets is under way, with hourly Brigham Ogden service and Bear River valley connections planned.

Mackrave Co Presents Three Night Opera House Run

The Mackrave Company closed a three night engagement at the opera house with The Call of His Mate. Opening bill was The Power of the Order and Tuesday offered Squawman. Large crowds enjoyed every performance and the troupe planned a return, with Malad and Logan audiences awaiting next.

S S Union Meeting in Garland Ward

The Garland ward held a combined sacrament meeting with the Stake U S Union Board presiding. Attendees included 106 officers and teachers and 31 visitors, with seven members of the State Board present.

Relief Society Conference Held in Garland Hall

The Bear River Stake Relief Society held a semi annual conference at Garland hall with sessions at 10 am and 2 pm. President Julia A Richards presided and reported on the society and grain storage. Reports covered Mothers work sickness care widows orphans and religion classes. A lunch was served and speakers included Sister Mantina Jensen Miss Jennie Wanlass and Elder J P Christensen. Elder Thomas Laws spoke on English Relief Society work.

Riverside News Roundup and Bishopric Reorganization

Fred Colton spent a few days in Salt Lake on business. Riverside’s bishopric was reorganized last Sunday with J. H. Welling as bishop and L. H. Kennard Jr and B. E. Capener as counselors. The new bishops repaired the meeting house and installed a stove. Miss Jenkins of Brigham visited Mrs. Aaron Porter, whose Wednesday sociable featured games charades and a dainty lunch. Mrs. Mary Nye returns from Southern Utah holidays. Jan 12, 1911.

Funeral for 16 month old Estella Smith held in Garland hall

Estella Smith, 16 months, died of pneumonia after a ten day illness. Funeral services were conducted at Garland hall Wednesday at 2 PM with Thos E Secrist presiding. The ward choir sang Nearer My God to Thee and I Need Thee Every Hour. Speakers included Peter Jensen Joseph Jensen D E Manning and Thos FE Secrist. What Voice Salutes the Starlit Air was sung and Chas Mumms gave the benediction. Wreaths decorated the hall and interment followed in the city cemetery with grave dedication by Wm King.
