Garland public schools celebrated Lincoln's Birthday with a midday flag hoisting and saluting ceremony. Parents visited classrooms in the afternoon while all grades performed in a Lincoln Day program at the Garland Amusement hall. The program was entertaining and well received.
Messrs Call and Rice showcased the Call Automatic R R Switch in Garland drawing crowds to the Gem Cafe. The Call Automatic Switch Co is incorporated with 1,000,000 shares at $1 each and plans open stock, with Ira A. Call as president Geo B. Hardy as vice president Lewis T. Cannon treasurer and O C White GM. Citizens have invested stock and officials deem the venture promising.

The southbound passenger train No. 24 struck and destroyed the Malad motor car in Ogden yards at 8 47 Tuesday. Three passengers were seriously hurt and fourteen others slightly injured. no train passengers were harmed. The railroad blamed the motor car crew for disobeying orders and discharged Conductor H W Logan and Motor-nan Lee Chase after a committee met Tuesday evening. The motor car damage totaled 750 dollars.

The Ladies' Self-Culture Club gathered at President Mrs. Jelia M. Grover's home with twelve members and guests including Mesdames Baxter Wing Grover Henrie Brough and Miss Louise Clark. Reading completed Dorothy Vernon and songs and piano selections entertained members. The grand character ball date moved from February fourth to March second. Refreshments were served and future entertainment arranged at the Foulger Company venue in ten days.
The Walters Stock Company presents a three night engagement at the Garland Opera House starting Monday February 14 with a dramatization of Bertha M. Clay's Dora Thorne. The production promises absorbing performances and eloquent acting from the cast.
Mrs Dean Nelson Jeppesen wife of Joseph B Jeppesen of Mantua died at her Mantua home Monday evening after a complication of diseases. She was a trained nurse and well known across the county. Funeral services were held at the Mantua meeting house Friday afternoon with relatives from the city in attendance including Mr and Mrs Joseph Jensen Mrs Peter Jensen Mrs James Jensen and Mrs Myrtle Gleason.
