Kansas faces budget gap as revenue misses loom
A Kansas memo from the Legislative Research Department warns of a remaining budget gap despite prior cuts. It estimates a $5.6 million general fund balance at year end if revenue targets hold, but factors a $26 million miss in July and August could push the hole to $20 million. The report coincides with school funding litigation and discusses potential cuts, reforms, and the need to balance books amid tax cuts critics say deepened deficits.
