Historic planes visit Garden City with two warbirds
B-29 Superfortress Fifi and B-24A Diamond Lil arrive at Garden City Regional Airport for a two day display. They will fly over Main Street at noon if weather allows and stay displayed 9 am to 6 pm Tuesday through September 14. Admission is 5 dollars for adults, 3 dollars for 9 to 12 year olds, under 9 free with a paying adult. Half hour local flights on the B-24 cost 350 dollars for ages 18 and up. Garden City commissioners set a 2 p.m. Tuesday public hearing on applying for a $48 0000 Community Development Block Grant to repair deteriorating housing north of Laurel Street to west of Second Street. At least 83 percent of residents in the area must be low to moderate income. city cash and in kind services total about 47 800.
