Kansas drought grips High Plains farmers and ranchers
Across Kansas a devastating drought leaves pastures bare and wells dry. In Haskell and Finney counties farmers report four inches of rain since spring, with heat and wind worsening conditions. Ranchers haul water for cattle while irrigation pivots burn through scarce supplies as the Ogallala Aquifer declines. Local residents link the drought to climate change and warn of long-term agricultural impact.
