Labor Day Weekend Activity at Lake Scott and Garden City
Visitors enjoyed boating, fishing, and swimming at Lake Scott State Park amid near 100 degree heat. Regan Smith noted slower rental activity due to a recent algae scare while Agathe Lanet and family from Fort Leavenworth joined locals near the swimming beach. Garden City residents kept pool volleyball thriving with AP-style rules, hosted by Heather Schlegel, who has run the gatherings 12 years. Families from Colorado Springs and Emporia used the holiday to reconnect, with Labor Day serving as a midpoints reunion for relatives.
