Money flows into contests for Kansas Legislature
Democrats outspent Republicans in key Kansas Senate races over the last three months as incumbents and allies counter the influence of the Kansas Chamber of Commerce. The chamber PAC pledged at least 312000, while the KNEA spent about 266000 since August, with large funds remaining. Notable races include Anthony Hensley versus Casey Moore in the 19th District and Laura Kelly versus Dick Barta in the 18th, plus contests in the 5th and 6th Districts. The chamber and allied donors, including Koch Industries and Ivan Crossland, backed conservative Republicans, while the KNEA deployed hundreds of thousands to support Democrats and fund campaigns, mailings, and polling.
