Main Street road work begins in 2013 phased concrete upgrade
Phase one of Main Street reconstruction will replace asphalt and brick with nine inches of concrete pavement costing 498140 dollars, funded equally by the city and Kansas Department of Transportation. Construction south of the railroad tracks to Maple is underway with traffic changes, while phase two north to Fulton Street will start in 2013 depending on weather. The project aims to reduce maintenance and improve road strength, with minimal downtown impact during holidays and coordinated traffic access for businesses. The American Legion Veterans Day parade on November 10 will proceed as planned, with parade operations and staging adjusted for construction zones.
