Baylor Researchers Reimplant Kidneys After Repair
Baylor College of Medicine researchers have developed a method to remove kidneys from dogs, repair them, and reimplant them. In tests on 30 dogs, kidneys stayed functional outside the body for up to three days with 80 percent functioning well enough to sustain long-term life. This technique could offer a distinct advantage in selected medical cases.
