Court allows denial of prenatal care to illegal immigrants
The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that pregnant illegal immigrants can be denied taxpayer funded prenatal care in New York, citing the Welfare Reform Act of 1996. It also held that children born in the United States are eligible for Medicaid, and noted Congress may deter illegal immigration by limiting care.
