Martinezs lifelong highway of work and love spans seven decades
Martinez recounts wartime service shaping his view on life. He left a railroad crew job after replacement by a full timer and found work as a mechanic helper at a Chevrolet dealership. He married Josephine Mesa Valenzuela in 1953, supported by shared dreams of a bigger home and family. They bought a two bedroom house, then moved to accommodate their expanding family, before he started a 25 year painting business.
