Congress weighs sweeping VA college aid expansion
Democrats push a plan to guarantee full in state public university tuition plus housing stipends for veterans with at least three years service. The bill would extend eligibility to 15 years, create a government program to match private college aid costs, and boost benefits for pricey public schools such as Miami University in Oxford Ohio, potentially up to 31000 per year. Speaker Pelosi calls the measure a wartime thank you to troops.
