Retiring: Teacher Inspires as Students Honor 38 Years
Gardens City Community College celebrates longtime speech instructor Lee Tiberghien as he retires after 38 years. Photos line his Pauline Joyce Fine Arts building office showing 11 hosted international students and groups on white river trips and European tours. Therapy dog Maggie, plaques, and a 30 year service award frame a career defined by students who say they found their voice in his classes. Dennis Mesa recalls the impact from 34 years ago as a former student and now regional director for U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback, crediting Tiberghien with supporting his speaking skills and confidence.
