United Continental agree to combine in $3B deal
United Airlines and Continental Airlines announced a merger to form the world’s largest carrier with about $29 billion in revenue and $7.4 billion in cash. The plan envisions United retaining the name while using Continental colors, led by Continental CEO Jeffery Smisek and United chairman Glenn Tilton for up to two years, with regulatory approval and a projected close in Q4.
