Senate fight delays naming bison herd for late lawmaker
In Topeka, senators clashed over naming a Crawford County bison herd after former state Rep. Bob Grant who died in December. The delay, tied to a broader bill on dangerous animals and hemp research, moves the naming to January 1, 2017 after the election, with Grant's widow currently a Democratic candidate for the Senate. Grant previously served in the House in the 1990s and 2013, and the herd now comprises five animals according to wildlife officials.
