Kansas Senate moves to Medicaid expansion vote
Lawmakers in the Republican led Kansas Senate push to expand Medicaid after frictions with opponents during debate. The bill would enroll about 150000 Kansans in the federal state program, following House approval in February. Senate President Wagle warned of federal cost shifts and urged rejection while supporters argued it saves lives and protects hospitals and rural communities. Senators voted yes on two named amendments, with broader debate referencing Congress inaction and potential impacts if expansion is delayed.
